The ASN has conducted site inspections on 25 and 26 September and 24 October. "We will take the necessary steps to complete the actions required by the ASN within three months," said a spokeswoman for EDF. The problem involves pipes carrying hydrogen, an explosive gas. "We did not detect leakage or immediate danger. However, there were pipes that had a rusty appearance," said Charles-Antoine Louët, head of the division of Lyon from the Nuclear Safety Authority . The ASN has also noticed that the pipes were not marked as vectors of hydrogen. "There was no finding of imminent and serious risk, but if this situation continues over several years, it could lead to a more immediate risk," said Charles-Antoine Louët. "The risk against which we must guard is a risk of leakage of hydrogen which could spread throughout the premises and trigger an explosion," he stressed.
